Jahne 0402 088 170 January 2026
Jahne has been drawing and painting for most of her life, having her first professional exhibition at Monash University – great encouragement for a twenty five year old – it was a sell out.
From there, Jahne received a grant from the Natural History Museum in Melbourne, attending the Smithsonian in Washington DC, to study scientific illustration, eventually enabling her to work across the world.
A life-long painter and exhibitor, Jahne participated in local exhibitions while having her family and she later continued her involvement with international shows. Experiencing total loss in the Ash Wednesday fires of 1983, her spirit was not dampened – rather, the lessons fueled interest in many more important subjects.
Painting on tea bags is a recent exploration, and the beautiful paper as a medium, remains a favourite for the unique qualities it presents.
Jahne has always been a fabric enthusiast, with sewing an important part of her creative journey. The progression to making soft sculpture dolls, was accelerated through exhibitions, and the encouragement from her friend, the late Mirka Mora.
They are dolls to be looked at, framed and stood on a grand piano . A sculpture in cloth.
