Art on Piper is a delightful experience in the centre of the touristy art hub of Piper Street
This art gallery in Kyneton offers a great range of artworks and gifts at affordable prices, all created uniquely by the skill of talented local artists.
Sitting amid fine dining venues, award winning restaurants, food and wine makers, designer outlets and beautiful walking tracks, the gallery is only an hour out from Melbourne. A pleasant drive up the picturesque Calder Freeway. In addition, the region of Macedon Ranges in Central Victoria as a whole, is perfect as a memorable destination for day trips or an extended stay.
There are many reasons to visit. Above all, the array of creative products will inspire. Paintings, photography, jewellery, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, glass, mosaic, origami, wood, cards and more. Gifting is made easy for you.
OPEN every day in warm months (closed Tuesday May – Sep) from 10 until 4, with a different artist on duty each day. In other words, you are going to find your visit entertaining as well. They usually work on their art and are happy to chat about styles, techniques or maybe a special request you have. As a result, your imagination takes flight in the presence of interesting company.

Now in our seventh year of business, our group currently includes a mix of professionals, mid career and emerging artists. Some have been teachers, some side-line enthusiasts and some are new to the joy of making art. Moreover, many have discovered their true calling after years of informal dabbling and certainly others have always been on the art road, taking the unpredictable journey where it leads.

ART GALLERY FRONT WINDOW THEME
Our 2D and 3D works come together in the front window to tell a different story each month.
Changing themes invigorates the artists to explore new ideas in their chosen medium, surprises our regular visitors and leaves a memorable impact on travellers to our area.
Sometimes we enjoy a broad theme, other times we link to our town, or we challenge the artists with strong parameters. Our Themes and Events page can be viewed to enjoy a glimpse of past themes.

EXHIBITION ROOM
The Art on Piper Exhibition Room is primarily a space to feature artists from further afield. Occasionally the members fill the space, working to an interesting theme, producing a variety of styles.
The light filled space is an excellent start-out exhibition opportunity. It may suit yourself or people you know who would enjoy the learning experience.
The private space creates an intimate zone for deep contemplation with the exhibitor’s thoughts and motivations. As a consequence, there have been many successful exhibitions over the years.
For example, art students have presented their investigated series. Likewise, professionals have tested the regional waters. Similarly, retirees have fulfilled a life long desire to have a show. And in the same vein, hobbyists have sought public feedback on retail viability.
Exhibitions last for a month. However, the chance to sculpt an experience focussed around your body-of-work could continue into a second month by arrangement. We are taking bookings for 2024 and 2025, and are certainly happy to discuss the potential for this space to highlight your talent.

MACEDON RANGES THEME
Paintings, etchings, photographs and ceramics feature the details. Magnets, luggage tags and little painted canvases may evoke memories of a visit. Turned timber treasures created from the very trees that once lived here, will remind you of the beauty.
As residents of the captivating area of the Macedon Ranges, we take inspiration from our ever changing landscape. From vibrantly coloured foliage, rolling hills and verdant valleys to the native species of wild flora and fauna that abounds. We love it all.
And if you are a local wishing to improve the close-to-home feeling, we can help you out. Firstly, you could enquire about customising what you see into a series. Secondly, you could request a change of size or frame. Or thirdly, commission a work that includes your own favourite vista or details. To sum up, the artists are all willing to discuss options to adorn your home with local imagery.
CIRCLE THEME
In the centre of the room can be found a collection of circular themed artworks by many of the members.
MYSTERY ART WALK
Enjoy a 25min walk around the streets of Kyneton, while discovering 14 hidden and obvious illustrated tile installations by member Elizabeth Darling, ending at another popular gallery. Commence the return journey through back lanes, parks, church grounds with a huge labyrinth and many historical buildings. Pass the court house where Ned Kelly was tried, a Marist Brothers school now home and gold rush buildings of note. Pick up a map or print from the MAT page.
