Marian Alexopoulos

Painter and Encaustic Artist

Marian’s main preoccupation as an artist is with abstraction and the exploration of mixed media materials. She enjoys variety,  using acrylics, collage, inks, watercolour and pastel in a working method that is essentially free and intuitive, going with the flow of the work as it evolves.

Encaustic has been added to the range of media, and Marian finds this a most enjoyable and fascinating technique which suits her natural inclination for textural elements. Its organic qualities also lend themselves to references and inspiration from the surrounding landscape and wildlife, which underpin everything that is done in her art practice.

While not a member of Art on Piper, Marian’s paintings add a variety of style to the gallery venue, moving around where space permits.
