Marianne’s love of glass began as a child when she received a glass paperweight as a gift. However it wasn’t until many years later that she attended glass fusing classes in Melbourne, followed by lampworking classes (making glass beads over an extremely hot flame).
Shortly after these classes, Marianne purchased a kiln and other necessary lampworking and fusing equipment enabling the set up of a small home based studio. Thus began a love of working with warm glass. Further training continued with new techniques learned at workshops by international experts and having fun playing with the materials.
Recent explorations into other media have included acrylic pour paintings – choosing a colour palette and watching as the paint expands over the canvas to create beautiful effects. Cards feature smaller samples of the organically fluid flows, sometimes made with alcohol inks.
With a special kiln for ceramic firings, Marianne is now producing uniquely textural and vibrantly coloured wearable art (earrings, brooches and buttons), décor and garden items.
