Studio Potter
Functional Tableware, Plates, Cups, Bowls, Giftware
Clare started playing with clay at a very young age whilst digging in the clay pits on her family farm in Lancefield.
The joy of making and creating continues as her skills, qualifications and experience grows. Living and working in the Macedon Ranges provides an unending array of inspirational natural colours and textures which are reflected in her artworks.
A skilful production potter, with years of experience at Robert Gordon Pottery and several small Melbourne studios, teamed with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Ceramics, and a Graduate Diploma in education, allows Clare to make, teach and exhibit within the community she loves and knows so well.
Clare’s work is truly bespoke. She makes in small batches, developing shapes and forms of beauty. Functional wares are her specialty; therefore they are meant to be used, enjoyed and admired, and being stoneware fired, all functional pieces are dishwasher, oven and microwave safe.
An avid interest in gelology and glaze chemistry allows Clare the opportunity to develop new colours and textural wonders using locally sourced minerals and materials where possible.
Clare’s other hidden talent is teaching. She is available for personalised workshops, family fun days, and corporate team building events. As an arts educator with over 15 years experience in schools, Clare can tailor an event to suit your own personal requirements.
