Sharon has loved creating art for as long as she can remember, growing up on a farm in the small country town of Monto, Central QLD surrounded by trees and nature.

Her grandfather, Norman Klatt was a wonderful oil painter, teaching, encouraging and inspiring Sharon throughout her childhood.

In 2002, finding oils took too long to dry for a youthful and impatient artistic expression, Sharon was receptive to a change of medium. A flyer in the mail for a weekend pastel workshop run by the Pastel Society of Australia was the pivotal motivation and she was hooked from the first dusty stroke.

Attending many workshops and classes with the PSA over the following years, Sharon had her first successful solo exhibition in August 2004. And also developed a love of teaching art to others.

A career as a wedding photographer and motherhood reduced time for painting and a move back to the country in 2020 triggered that deep love of creating nature based art.

These days Sharon spends her days painting and teaching in her studio in Lancefield, fully inspired by the magnificent countryside around Central Victoria. She has also re-engaged with oil painting as well, maturity allowing the patience to create in this wonderful medium.
