Having worked in Graphic Design for 25 years Diedre came to clay like many do, joining in a local pottery evening class in 2014. She soon became hooked on the endless possibilities of making tangible things rather than sitting in front of a computer to produce work.
Through lots of trial and error she began to use some of the techniques developed in her design career and applied them to clay. Techniques like screen printing, lino cuts, collage, surface pattern and photography.
Working from a shed in the garden of her property in Mt Macedon, she is inspired by the nature as well as a lifelong interest in myths, folklore, children’s book illustration, visual storytelling and these ideas are applied to vessels, plates and small sculptures.
